Wait! Don’t start yet! Put some –appropriate- music on first!
Our initial plan with Silia was to visit Folegandros island in June and Astypalea island in July. None of us had ever visited these islands that have been on our travel bucket lists for several summers. So we started taking all necessary action. But sometimes when a man makes plans, God (well… almost) makes them better!
The proposal to add three more islands to the above two destinations for an island-hopping that would eventually include these five destinations: Folegandros, Milos, Serifos, Paros, and Astypalea, was even better than a dream. This invitation was an afternoon cicada song to our ears! We immediately began to prepare our suitcases and make space for the memory cards of our cameras.
During this route, in early summer, from island to island, in the embrace of the Aegean, the destinations were transformed into memories, were written on our hearts with permanent ink, and painted our dreams with the colors of Greece. Every arrival at a new port also marked a new experience. Even on the islands where we had been, nothing seemed the same. We felt as if we saw them for the very first time.
The images we enjoyed capturing, the different feelings we experienced in each of these blessed places, the people we met, and the conversations we had, all formed a unique puzzle that we put together days after this island hopping was completed, an experience worth living at least once in your life.
A month later, during our quiet nights, our thought swims mindlessly back to these days; To these islands, that gave us a piece of them and we left them a little bit of our heart.
*The Island Hopping took place in cooperation with the Municipalities of the Islands we visited. A separate post with many photos for each of the islands -Folegandros, Milos, Serifos, Paros, and Astypalea-, follows.
